Coronation Street's Wendi Peters talks to Soaplife about musicals, Corrie and Strictly Come Dancing!

You’re just finishing starring in White Christmas at London's Dominion Theatre… What’s next?

"I'll have a bit of time off, then, I start a UK tour of 'Oh What a Lovely War The Musical' at the end of January. We're at the Theatre Royal, Stratford, in East London for a week, before setting off around the country."

Do you like musical theatre?

"I love musical theatre! I was enthralled by fantastic musicals like 'Singing in the Rain' when I was a child. I so wanted to be in that film - the music, the glamour, the costumes… It's what inspired me to come into the business in the first place."

It was great seeing Cilla back on the Street. Will she return?

"I honestly have no idea. Never say never. If they call and have an idea for a storyline… That's what it's all about for me. I liked it that she'd become a bit softer when she was back last year."

Are you anything like her?

"There has to be a bit of you in every character you play. Like Cilla, I'm very impatient and a bit of a control freak, but hopefully I'm much nicer than she is."

You've done Celebrity MasterChef. Would you do any other reality TV show?

"Only Strictly Come Dancing. I'd love to do that. I get asked to do a lot of others, but I say 'No' because it's just not me. I'm only interested if I'm going to be learning something."
