Kym Marsh has hit out at internet trolls, who claimed her niece had died.

The Coronation Street star revealed she had been the target of a hoaxer, who pretended her niece had died from cancer on a fake Facebook page they set up.

This IS NOT MY FACEBOOK and whoever this sicko is needs locking up! You need help! My niece is alive and well pic.twitter.com/CO5psCtLOM

The bogus profile even featured an image of the actress on a Disney visit kissing Mickey Mouse.

Kym, who plays barmaid Michelle Connor on the ITV soap, has been targeted by internet bullies before.

The 38-year-old actress had a fake email account closed down when she discovered someone was emailing her friends, pretending to be her and trying to arrange drinks.

She also had people mocking her following the death of her minutes-old baby son Alfie – and had abuse from trolls over her split from fiance Dan Hooper.

A source told the Daily Mirror that Kym is considering getting the police involved, or even withdrawing from social media.

“She is suffering from a constant barrage of people trolling her or pretending to be her. She is now going to look into involving the police because this can’t go on,” they said.

“It is very upsetting and she is getting to the stage where she is considering pulling the plug on social media. But she doesn’t want to do that because she doesn’t want to let the bullies win.”
