Shayne Ward has literally leapt onto the cobbles for his first day of filming at Coronation Street.

The X Factor winner is playing Aidan Connor, a cousin of barmaid Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh), and has just begun shooting his first scenes.

Shayne, 30, had fun fooling around for the camera in a series of pictures posted on the Corrie Instagram account.

Shayne previously revealed: “On hearing the news I had been offered the part on the show, I was in total disbelief. It still hasn’t sunk in. Shayne Ward, the lad from Manchester, given such a role on such an iconic show – it is an absolute dream come true. I’m excited to walk down those famous cobbles.

The Manchester-born star, who has also appeared on the West End stage in Rock Of Ages, has signed a one-year contract with the show.
