Tina McIntyre's Corrie exit will be 'spectacular' say show bosses

Coronation Street bosses have dropped further hints about Tina McIntyre's departure from the soap, saying it will be 'spectacular'.

The character is due to be killed off when Michelle Keegan leaves Corrie later this year - and executive producer Stuart Blackburn said viewers can expect a huge storyline around her demise.

"We've got some massive stories coming up that are really different," he told Bang Showbiz.

"Everybody knows Tina's going; it's going to be an incredible, spectacular exit and it's going to take us right through autumn and December, it's going to be massive."

However he admitted that viewers wouldn't be kept in suspense for ever, saying that the identity of Tina's killer would be 'known well before Christmas'.

The murder is tipped to spark one of the biggest whodunnits in the soap's history, with both Carla and Tracy Barlow tipped to be among the main suspects.

Michelle - who is relocating to London to be closer to fiance Mark Wright - recently admitted she was 'gutted' to have been written out of the soap in such a way.

"I was gutted for Tina more than anything because I always thought she was one of those characters that could come back in the future," she explained.

"She's got no family and I thought a relative could come in for her because she;s not had a very good life. Her dad died, she hasn't had much luck with men - and then her life is over."
