Who’s coming and who’s going soon - very soon for some! - on Coronation Street

Removal trucks will be very busy in Weatherfield for the rest of the year, moving out some of our very favourite characters - and moving in some new ones.

The devastating fire at Victoria Court, where Carla Connor lives, will have a massive impact on some residents of the Street, including Carla, who's trapped in her flat.

But that's not the only cause of certain peoples' exits - and entrances.

Here's our rundown on latest on the comings and goings on the Street…

Streetcars cabs for…

Lloyd Mullaney (Craig Charles)

Coronation Street

Craig Charles as Lloyd Mullaney (ITV)

It was a sad day when we discovered Craig was ending his 10-year run in Coronation Street.

Craig has quit to rejoin his old Red Dwarf cast mates for a new series of the sitcom.

With Lloyd’s girlfriend Andrea (Hayley Tamaddon) also packing her bags, we're wondering if they'll be leaving happily together - or apart, heartbroken.

Carla Connor (Alison King)

Coronation Street

Alison King as Carla Connor (ITV)

Carla is one of the Street’s best-loved characters, so it’s good news that her exit is only a temporary one.

Alison has been on the show for nine years and thinks it's time she took a break from the soap to pursue other projects.

“Before Ali takes her break Carla has much more drama to come," Corrie told us. "She will be central to the explosive storyline which sees Victoria Court go up in flames, and the aftermath of that plotline will have huge consequences for the factory boss.

Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh)

Coronation Street

Katy Cavanagh as Julie Carp (ITV)

We’ll also be bidding a fond farewell to Julie Carp this year, played by Katy Cavanagh for seven years.

The ditzy sister of Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) is about to be reunited with headmaster Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) - but does she leave with him?

“I have loved every minute in the world of Julie Carp and I’m not ruling out a return to the Street in the future," says Katy. "However I am looking forward to a new challenge and a pair of flat shoes.”

Andrea Beckett (Hayley Tamaddon)

Coronation Street

Hayley Tamaddon as Andrea Beckett (ITV)

As mentioned, Lloyd’s girlfriend Andrea is also off.

And her departure shows signs of being dramatic, as former Emmerdale actress Hayley is set to leave during the soap’s live episode in September, which will mark Corrie's 60 years on screen.

Kal Nazir (Jimi Mistry)

Coronation Street

Jimi Mistry as Kal Nazir (ITV)

Jimi will leave his role as Kal  following a “huge secret plot twist” which will have a massive impact on his partner Leanne (Jane Danson).

Maddie Heath (Amy Kelly)

Coronation Street

Amy Kelly as Maddie Heath (ITV)

Poor Sophie Webster (Brooke Vincent) looks set for heartbreak once again as Amy Kelly, who plays her girlfriend, has quit the Street.

“I’m young and adventurous and I want to gain more experience and explore and improve my craft,"  Amy explains.

But Corrie producer Stuart Blackburn will be gutted to see her go, as he’d previously admitted: “The joy with Amy is that she has no idea how good she is.

“Short of her wanting to go, the character of Maddie will be here as long as I’m here.”

And it's "welcome" drinks in the Rovers for…

Joni Preston (Sarah Harding)

Sarah Harding

Sarah Harding will play Joni Preston (Daniel Leal-Olivas/PA)

Former Girls Aloud singer Sarah is the biggest star in the new line-up heading for Coronation Street.

Sarah will be playing the wife of Tracy Barlow’s ex-husband Robert Preston and if we can see anyone giving villain Tracy a run for her money, it’s Sarah.

If she’s looking for tips, Sarah could turn to former band mate Cheryl Fernandez-Versini who made a charity cameo in the soap, or regular cast member Kym Marsh who joined the soap as Michelle Connor after finding fame through the talent show Pop Stars, just like Girls Aloud did.

Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward)

Shayne Ward

Shayne Ward (Dominic Lipinski/PA)

Yep, as one Connor (Carla) leaves, another one arrives…

Former X Factor winner Shayne will play Michelle Connor’s cousin Aidan.

It sounds like Aidan will be a bit of a ladies’ man - and we haven't had one of those since Rob Connor. Must be in the blood.

Dan Jones (Andrew Paul)

Andrew Paul

Andrew Paul will play Dan Jones in Corrie (ITV)

Wow! Doesn't Andrew Paul look different? He was The Bill’s Pc Dave Quinnan for 13 years, but Andrew will find himself on the other side of the law when he takes up his role in Corrie as Dan Jones.

The brewery worker will be a welcome distraction for Liz McDonald later this year, when she's on the rebound from cheating boyfriend Tony Stewart, but will she still be interested when she discovers his dark secret connection to another Weatherfield woman?

Dougie Ryan (Paddy McGuinness)

Paddy McGuinness

Paddy McGuinness (Chris Radburn/PA)

Bringing a bit of light relief to the soap over the summer is comedian Paddy McGuinness, who will play what he has described as a poor man’s Bear Grylls.

When the Tinkers, Fiz Stape (Jennie McAlpine), Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and Chesney (Sam Aston) head off for a holiday, they meet Paddy’s character Dougie Ryan, who tries to draw them in to his enthusiasm for survival skills.

Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill)

Tristan Gemmill

Tristan Gemmill plays Tracy's ex, Robert Preston (ITV)

Former Casualty star Tristan has been signed up to play the much-anticipated role of Tracy Barlow’s ex Robert Preston.

He’ll make a typically dramatic soap entrance by turning up at her mum Deirdre’s funeral, where a grieving Tracy will fall straight back into his arms.

But the trouble really begins when Joni Preston (Sarah Harding), revealing he is still married to her, and the Bistro’s new chef Robert will have to see if he can stand the heat that comes with deceiving Tracy.

Coronation Street continues on ITV, Monday, May 25, 7.30pm.
