Is Christine Bleakley facing ITV axe?

Christine Bleakley could reportedly be facing a bleak future at ITV following speculation that she may be axed from the channel once Dancing On Ice finishes.

The 34-year-old presenter joined the network in a blaze of publicity in June 2010, after being poached from The One Show to co-host Daybreak with Adrian Chiles.

However her contract expires in June - and a string of flop shows have fuelled rumours that she may either be given a massive pay cut or dropped from ITV altogether.

"Christine is no longer the golden girl of ITV so a big new golden handcuffs deal is out of the question," a source told the Mirror.

"If she isn't careful and reasonable in her demands she could be frozen out."

The presenter originally joined Daybreak in September 2010 but both she and Adrian were axed from the show in November 2011 following disappointing viewing figures.

While Adrian has gone on to present much of ITV's football coverage Christine has been seen less often, fronting just two shows - Text Santa and That Dog Can Dance -  in the past year as well as Dancing On Ice.

There is also suggestion that she has turned down a number of pilot shows, leading to claims that she has been "picky" over potential projects.

And her Dancing On Ice future could also reportedly be in doubt - with speculation that Holly Willoughby, currently on a two-year deal with the BBC to present The Voice, could come back to the show if it returns in 2014.

'If you are spending millions on talent you want them on screen, and aside from a Dancing On Ice series once a year Christine has barely been seen," an insider told the paper. "They have not got value for money."

An ITV spokesman said they were "in discussion" with Christine about future projects.
