Todd Carty makes Dancing On Ice exit

Todd Carty has become the third celebrity to skate off Dancing On Ice, after losing out in the latest skate-off of the all-star series.

The former EastEnders actor - who originally finished ninth in the 2009 series of the show - failed to impress the judges with a Venetian-themed routine which saw him skate entire solo.

And the performance also failed to strike a chord with the public, who voted him into the bottom two alongside Zaraah Abrahams.

The subsequent 'save-me skate' saw him reprise his infamous Help! routine, with a new twist which saw skating partner Alexandra Schaumann career off the ice.

But after Zaraah had reprised her routine to Prince's Diamonds and Pearls with partner Andy Buchanan, the judges were in no doubt as to who they wanted to save.

"Zaraah, you were poetry in motion, Todd you were like a derailed locomotion," Jason Gardiner told him, although Karen Barber was kinder as she cast her vote.

"What a great excuse to see two routines again, Todd it's been great that you visited but it's time to go," she said.

Earlier in the show Todd notched up just 12 points for his efforts on the ice rink - with Jason Gardiner giving him just 1.5.

"What I regret most about that performance is that I couldn't change the channel," he quipped.

Karen added: "You try so hard but it's not making a lot of difference. I saw it all week but I didn't recognise half of the routine."

Eight other celebrities made it straight through to next weekend's Dancing On Ice on the strength of the public vote, including Ray Quinn - who topped the leaderboard for his fast-paced routine to chart-topper Blurred Lines.

Others who sailed through to the next round included Suzanne Shaw, Bonnie Langford, Sam Attwater, Gareth Gates, Hayley Tamaddon, Beth Tweddle and Kyran Bracken.
