Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay has revealed she would like to do corset-free roles from now on.
The 24-year-old actress, who shot to fame playing Lady Sybil Crawley in ITV period drama, admitted she prefers to avoid parts where she has to don the uncomfortable garments.
“I hate corsets. I absolutely hate them. Ugh. I don’t think I’ll ever wear a corset again,” she told Vogue.
Jessica, who next stars as gutsy heroine Mary Yellan in the BBC’s adaptation of Daphne du Maurier's novel Jamaica Inn, admitted she never planned to be an actress. But after repeated ankle injuries thwarted her ballet ambitions, she decided to channel her love of performing into the stage and screen.
“I realised the part of ballet that I missed the most - becoming a character and telling a story - I could do as an actor,” she said.
Jamaica Inn starts on BBC1 on Sunday, April 20.
