BBC Worldwide is planning to launch a YouTube channel for EastEnders, showing clips from the BBC1 soap's 23-year run. The dedicated channel will host classic clips, such as the Christmas episode where Den told Angie he wanted a divorce, in a bid to become the 'ultimate EastEnders destination', according to reports in The Guardian. A staggering 30 million people watched on Christmas Day 1986 as wicked Den Watts delivered divorce papers to Angie in The Queen Vic. The YouTube channel will also feature more recent moments including the revelation of Max and Stacey's affair, and Kat and Zoe's infamous "You're not my muvva!" scene, where Zoe discovered that Kat was her mum - not her sister. It will also including related content such as an interview with Shane Ritchie - aka Alfie Moon - on Parkinson and Alistair McGowan's parody Big 'Enders. Simon Danker, BBC Worldwide director of digital media, said: "We're committed to building more communities on the web around shows like EastEnders that people are really passionate about." Patrick Walker, YouTube director of video partnerships for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, added: "Over the years, EastEnders has built up a huge, loyal base of fans who love the programme. "This dedicated YouTube channel will enable even more engagement with this community as well as exposing one of the BBC's most popular shows to new global audiences." BBC Worldwide has a main YouTube channel and launched a dedicated Top Gear channel back in August.
