Shona McGarty and ex-boyfriend Matt Lapinskas have aired their dirty linen in public, rowing on Twitter.

The EastEnders actress congratulated Beth Tweddle on the social networking site for winning Dancing On Ice, which Matt placed second.

Shona wrote: "Well done to Beth for winning dancing on ice!!!!" to which Matt responded: "Childish! True colours! I feel embarrassed for you."

He then deleted the tweet and said sorry, writing: "Emotions were high, I do apologise for that tweet. Had an amazing time on @dancingonice love everyone here."

Shona responded by sending Matt a philosophical tweet and insisting she had not been malicious in congratulating Beth, but genuinely supportive.

She wrote: "@mattylapinskas the journey in between what you once were, and who you are now becoming, is where the dance of life really takes place. Xxxx

"Just to clarify, myself and Beth, both got on really well. I thought saying well done was ok?;/ x #notadigatall"

Shona and Matt split during the competition amid rumours that Matt had grown close to his skating partner Brianne Delcourt, but the pair have insisted their relationship is platonic.

The pair were pictured getting a pizza together after the final show on Sunday and walking back to their hotel with their arms around one another.
