FIRST LOOK: Phil's old flame Lorna Cartwright returns to EastEnders after 18 years

Phil Mitchell has finally sought help for his alcohol addiction after a heart-to-heart with Ronnie Mitchell on EastEnders.

With the support of his cousin, Phil agrees to attend an AA meeting, but a face from the past is set to shock Phil in Thursday night’s episode as these first-look pictures show.

After 18 years away from the Square, Phil (Steve McFadden) will come face to face with former flame Lorna Cartwright, played by Janet Dibley.

How will the two react?

It’s a case of history repeating itself as they first met at an AA meeting, before beginning an affair that was the catalyst for the end of Phil and Kathy’s marriage.

Lorna left Walford in 1998 to enter a detox programme after Phil saved her from committing suicide.

Phil recently rekindled his romance with Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) so how will she feel now he has found a familiar shoulder to lean on?

A source told The Sun: “Lorna was a great character and viewers loved her, especially her chemistry with Phil.

“No one wanted Janet to leave in 1998 and now the chance to get her back full-time will not be missed.”

The episode screens on BBC One at 7.30pm, with a second episode at 8:30pm.
