Khali Best to quit EastEnders
Khali Best is being written out of EastEnders, the BBC has confirmed.
His character Dexter Hartman, the grandson of Cora Cross, will leave Albert Square before Christmas, the Daily Star reported.
A spokesman for the soap told the newspaper: "We can confirm that Khali Best will be written out of EastEnders before Christmas. We wish him all the best for the future."
Khali added: "I've had an amazing two years at EastEnders, however I am now looking for new challenges in future roles."
The young actor joined the show in January 2013 and won the Best Newcomer Prize at this year's National Television Awards.
Khali was suspended from the soap for three months in May this year as a disciplinary action by bosses, although the reasons were never revealed.
Dexter was part of a high-profile storyline last year that saw him donate a kidney to save the life of his no-good dad Sam James, but apart from a failed romance with Nancy Carter has been kept on the peripherals since his suspension.
