‘Emma puts James in a coma!’ reveals Emmerdale’s Bill Ward

Emmerdale star Bill Ward tells Soaplife how James’s life is in danger when Emma turns on him!

She might look as though butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth, but Emma Barton has a dark side, which becomes evident when she almost kills James. “A pallet loaded with heavy feed falls on James’s head in the barn,” reveals Bill. “It doesn’t fall by accident, either, but James doesn’t know that.”

How does James feel about Emma (Gillian Kearney) turning up?

“He’s surprised. He doesn’t have a problem with her being back; in fact, he’s quite pleased to see her as he feels guilty that he is partly responsible for depriving his kids of their mum. It will be interesting to see what is left of Emma and James’s relationship, as they certainly loved each other once. Now it will be a case of how much they like each other.”

Why are they arguing in the barn?

“It’s a secret between them. I can’t say much at the moment, as there are an awful lot of secrets in this family that only a few people know about.”

And what does Emma do?

“James is securing a hoist and Emma causes it to come crashing down on James. She then basically leaves him for dead, but Pete [Anthony Quinlan] happens to be passing and finds his dad lying on the floor and then Emma turns round and helps Pete save his dad’s life.”

What happens to James?

“He ends up in a coma in hospital. Emma will be nervous about him waking up and spilling the beans on what may or may not have happened.”

Does James deserve Emma’s wrath?

“He has lied to her big time. She suspected he was unfaithful with Moira [Natalie J Robb] and he denied it and denied it. Now it turns out that he has a son with her. She has every right to be venomous.”
