Emmerdale spoilers: Jacob Gallagher makes an emotional return

Jacob is set to make an unexpected return to the village in tonight's episode.

We've missed Jacob Gallagher in the dales over the last week or so, but tonight's episode of Emmerdale will see him reappear unexpectedly after leaving the village to spend some time with Alicia Gallagher in Portugal.

The return will see emotional reunion scenes for actor Joe-Warren Plant, as his character Jacob faces his biological mum Leyla Harding for the first time since she discovered that Maya had abused her son. And Leyla is set to make a sensational confession.

Tonight's dramatic confrontation between the pair will pave the way for tomorrow's unmissable flashback episode, when we will finally find out what happened to Maya Stepney.

Heartbreakingly, Jacob believes that he and Maya had a real relationship, and is left devastated and confused by his mother's revelations.

Jacob has been expecting to see schoolteacher Maya on his return to the village, but he doesn't know that since he has been away, Maya's true colours have finally come to light, and that Leyla, Tracy Metcalfe, and Priya Kotecha have had an altercation with the manipulative teacher in the woods.

Maya hasn't appeared in the soap since, and viewers have been left wondering whether she is dead or alive, but in tomorrow evening's flashback episode we will finally discover the truth.

In another flashback episode later on in the week, we'll find out what happened on the night of the stabbing, after Ellis Chapman faces down his brother Billy Fletcher about what really happened on that night out.

Moira will also begin to realise that something that happened on the recent night out has affected Victoria Barton, since she has avoided leaving her home for days, and clearly isn't herself.

So is Maya dead or alive? And what really happened on the night of the stabbing? Excitingly, we won't have to wait much longer to find out.

Emmerdale airs at 7pm tonight on ITV.
