Emmerdale's Adam on sibling rivalry with Corrie's Ryan

Emmerdale's Adam Thomas has said he's locked in a 'my-soap's-better-than-your-soap' battle with brother Ryan.

The Emmerdale star plays Adam Barton in the Yorkshire-set soap, while Ryan is across the Pennines in ITV's other soap, Coronation Street, as Jason Grimshaw.

Adam said: "I just think Emmerdale's the best soap. I always have this discussion with our Ryan and he's adamant it's Coronation Street, but I'm adamant it's Emmerdale."

The actor said despite the long-running disagreement, they both appreciate how lucky they are.

He said: "He does his thing, I do my thing and there's no rivalry, just a bit of banter on Twitter."

"We're very lucky to be both brothers in two different soaps, it's not very often you get that. My mum's very proud."
