Cillian Murphy awakes from a coma in hospital to find the place deserted and London a ghost town.

He wanders around aimlessly, unsure of what disaster has occurred, until he unwittingly awakens a group of raging maniacs who chase him.

He is rescued by Naomie Harris, who tells him that a deadly virus has infected most of the population, turning them into killers.

So they team up and begin the search for a safe haven – and maybe some answers, too.

Director Danny Boyle injects his remarkable chiller with some truly vicious verve and more than a few stunning shocks.

The scenes set in the desolate, deserted big city are wonderfully eerie and things go completely off the handle when army officer Christopher Eccleston appears on the scene.
