Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild – Channel 5

Ben and Susan in Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild

Ben meets a retired teacher who has swapped Glasgow for Ethiopia in this week’s Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild on Channel 5

Ben Fogle leaves the rat race behind to track down more people who have set up home in remote locations – whether they wanted him to visit or not – in the second episode of Channel 5’s Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild!

This time out he meets Glaswegian former home economics teacher Susan Aitchison, whose unusual retirement plan included embracing a new culture in the spectacularly rugged mountains of the Amhara region of Northern Ethiopia (for full listings, see our TV Guide).

Ben meets Susan, who has ‘retired’ to Ethiopia, as we see in Channel 5’s Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild

As she nears her 70th birthday, Susan can’t be accused of being on permanent vacation and she has continued her vocation by setting up a school in the local community.

And, as if that isn’t enough, Susan has also spent three years building a futuristic-looking restaurant on top of an isolated mountain (pictured top) – where Ben is soon put to work.
