Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa, aka superhero Black Panther, is back for a solo turn after his dash-on part in 2016's Captain America: Civil War.

Having made his mark in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, he gets his chance to really shine in this eagerly anticipated and wildly successful comic-book adventure.

Set in a hidden, technologically advanced African nation called Wakanda, the film sees T'Challa fight to defend his throne from Michael B Jordan's vengeful pretender and stop South African arms dealer Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) getting his hands on Wakanda's precious metal Vibranium, the source of the country's wealth and power.

Of course, Boseman has help. He has a number of strong women on his side, including his tech-whiz sister Shuri (Letitia Wright), undercover spy Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) and spear-wielding warrior Okoye (Danai Gurira).

For a change it's a white man, in the shape of Martin Freeman's CIA agent, who plays the token sidekick.
