Disney gives another of its animated classics the live-action treatment, with Ewan McGregor as the grown-up Christopher Robin
Disney gives another of its animated classics the live-action treatment, with Ewan McGregor as the grown-up Christopher Robin.
Inspired, of course, by AA Milne's beloved stories about the playful boy and his stuffed animal friends, the movie updates the story to find Christopher as a joyless drudge in adulthood - much to the dismay of his neglected wife (Hayley Atwell) and daughter (Bronte Carmichael).
Fortunately, Winnie the Pooh (voiced by Jim Cummings), the adorable bear with very little brain, and his pals from Hundred Acre Wood – Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Kanga, Roo and Owl (Brad Garrett, Nick Mohammed, Peter Capaldi, Sophie Okonedo, Sara Sheen and Toby Jones) – are ready to venture forth and help him rediscover the power of the imagination and the joys of life.
Director Marc Forster's movie takes a while to find its bearings, but becomes more charming and affecting as it goes along – and delightful CGI brings the animals to life.
