Ryan Reynolds takes the title role in a fantasy bursting at the seams with close-to-the-knuckle jokes, over-the-top mayhem and irreverence.

Reynolds does glib and snarky better than most, so he's perfect to play former Special Forces operative-turned-disfigured mercenary Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool.

Like him, the film is snide, gleefully twisted, violent - and wickedly funny.

Throughout, Reynolds' wisecracking, morally and sexually ambiguous antihero delivers a running commentary on the action, his pop culture patter name-dropping everyone from Liam Neeson in the Taken films to Sinead O'Connor and Wham!

Simultaneously the most 'adult' Marvel movie to date and the most supremely juvenile, this is great entertainment.
