After the sudden death of her husband, Jodie Foster and her little daughter accompany his coffin back from Berlin to the USA aboard a giant new plane.

She takes a brief nap, but when she wakes up her daughter is nowhere to be found. Worse, none of the other passengers or crew can even remember seeing her girl…

The more Foster complains, the more the crew suspect that she's suffering from some kind of mental illness. Luckily, though, Foster is an aerospace engineer who helped design the plane so she knows it inside out and sets about solving the mystery…

The plot does get extremely silly, but this is still a terrific thriller. Foster is on commanding form as the angry, distraught mum and casting Sean Bean as the pilot is an inspired touch. First-class entertainment.
