Hollywood veteran Lily Tomlin and rising newcomer Julia Garner prove an unusual but very sparky double act in this offbeat road movie.
Tomlin’s an acerbic septuagenarian poet and Garner is her pregnant 18-year-old granddaughter. Together, they hit the streets of LA in a bid to raise $600 before the day is out.
Helmed by About A Boy director Paul Weitz, and with striking support from Marcia Gay Harden, Judy Greer, Laverne Cox and, particularly, Sam Elliott, this is an assertively feminist, feisty, funny and also poignant film.
