Mel Gibson's world-weary Max is back in George Miller's stupendous movie.

With a much bigger budget and a non-stop stream of eye-popping stunts, this is that rare beast - a sequel that's actually better than the original.

Gibson drives his V8 Interceptor car through a post-World War Three Outback wilderness, where petrol is like gold and a murderous gang is laying siege to one isolated refinery.

'You want to get out of here, you talk to me!' is one of the few lines Gibson comes out with in a film where actions speak louder than words.

Gibson is ideal, aided by film-stealing turns from his faithful little dog, Bruce Spence as the Gyro Captain and Emil Minty as the Feral Kid.
