If you've ever travelled by train in the UK you'll know only too well the frustrations of delays, shockingly high ticket prices and ongoing engineering works.

Frustrated by delay after delay, passengers who travel daily on Southeastern trains, which serve south-east London, East Sussex and Kent, came up with a radical plan.

Eight commuters set up London and South East Rail, a not-for-profit organisation that calls itself 'the people's railway', and hopes to take over Southeastern's current franchise when it ends in 2018.
