As the celebrity senior citizens begin the second week of their stay at The Real Marigold Hotel in southwest India, they have a birthday to celebrate – Amanda Barrie is turning 81.
Paul Nicholas (72) points out that Amanda and fellow guests Miriam Stoppard (79) and Lionel Blair (87) are a great advert for old age, even taking into account Amanda’s attack of vertigo.
Health is obviously a big concern for the group, with Dennis Taylor (68) taking advantage of a full health-check which costs one eighth of what it would at home, while Lionel and Bill Oddie (75) both try Ayurvedic treatments.
A night out with some ex-pats gives them an idea of what it would be like to live here, but it's a trip to the stunning Meenakshi Amman Temple which stops them in their tracks.
