The Springwatch team are in the Cairngorms to celebrate the busiest season of the year
Warmer weather and longer days mean only one thing – Springwatch is back!
Over the next three weeks, Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan, Gillian Burke and Iolo Williams are broadcasting live from Cairngorms National Park, where eagles, ospreys, pine martens and capercaillies will hopefully make an appearance.
There’ll be reports on local species first encountered during Winterwatch earlier this year.
Also, viewers will be asked to take part in the show’s biggest ever citizen science project, Garden Watch, which hopes to build a national record of UK wildlife by surveying what’s in our very own gardens.
As Michaela told TV Times: "We want to get as many people involved in this as possible!
"Gardens are a last refuge for so much wildlife, so we’ll be looking at practical and positive ways everyone can re-wild their gardens."
"It doesn’t have to be big and flash," Chris adds. "Small stuff like tree slugs are fascinating, too.
"If that idea feeds through to Garden Watch, we’ll have done a great public service."
"If we can set a baseline of the health of the nation’s gardens," continues Gillian. "We can mark and track changes. Hopefully by Autumnwatch, we can feed information back to viewers."
