The first supercharged stunt show in the long-running franchise introduces us to Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner.

Ex-jailbird Diesel ('I live my life a quarter mile at a time!') and his LA gang race cars illegally on the streets and Walker is the newcomer who muscles in.

It turns out he’s an undercover cop investigating a series of truck hijackings, but the going gets tough when he falls for Diesel's sister (Jordana Brewster).

With its flash characters and sharp cars and and screeching with terrific pedal-to-the-metal action, the movie effortlessly delivers the promise of its title, and Diesel and Walker are charismatic tough guys.
