Noel Fitzpatrick’s series of bionic specials continues with a look at regenerative medicine as he attempts to help a seven-month-old Italian spinone, Flo, who has a hole in her shoulder bone.

By using the latest stem cell technology, Noel plans to grow new cartilage and bone and then plug the hole during a revolutionary surgery that could herald a new era in modern medicine.

Border collie Izzy is in constant pain after breaking her leg and losing part of her bone to infection, but Noel is designing an implant that will encourage cell regeneration in Izzy’s leg. Can the Supervet perform an astonishing world first?
