The revived X-Files hasn’t always hit the heights of the original series, but tonight’s highly enjoyable episode harks back pleasingly to some of the show’s classic offerings.

People are being stalked by their doppelgangers, then turning up dead – apparently by their own hand.

Mulder and Scully, quite pleased to have a proper X-File on their hands, hit the road aiming to ‘get back to our bread and butter’ and find out what’s going on.

Along the way there are plenty of quirky characters (a pair of splendidly OTT twins among them, played by veteran X-Files star Karin Konoval) and a twist that’ll please long-term fans
