Hollyoaks' Twinnie-Lee Moore: 'Abuse storyline really made me cry!'

Hollyoaks actress Twinnie-Lee Moore (Porsche McQueen) revealed how the Channel 4 soap's sexual abuse storyline has brought her to tears.

Troubled Porsche opened up about the sexual abuse she faced at the age of 15 by her mother Reenie’s boyfriend, Pete Buchanan. However, her family refuse to believe her, and her younger sister is now in danger.

According to The Sun, the actress prepared for the harrowing storyline by reading Behind Closed Doors by Jenny Tomlin, which recounts the author’s abuse as a child.

Twinnie-Lee said: “It's a horrific story and it really made me cry. You go through the emotions. I feel what Jenny goes through – that made it easier for me to call up the tears when I'm playing Porsche.

"I feel like I've been constantly crying for the last six weeks. I feel very drained after a heavy day."

The 27-year-old worked with the NSPCC in preparation for the storyline, while Hollyoaks is running a #NoMoreSecrets campaign, encouraging young people to speak out about abuse.
