As he returns to Oz, actor turned host Joe Swash is bracing himself for who might be in the I'm A Celebrity jungle this year... Do you still have fond memories of taking part in I'm A Celebrity and being crowned king of the jungle in 2008? "Yeah, I do. I went into the jungle as a fan of the show and it was a life-changing experience. It's always nice to go back to Australia to host ITV2 sister show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, Now! It's an amazing job; I think myself, Laura Whitmore and this year's new boy, comedian Rob Beckett, are very lucky." Many say I'm A Celebrity's continued success is down to the on-screen chemistry of hosts Ant and Dec. Would you agree? "The boys are brilliant. They're so down to earth and it's obvious they still love their job. They're always there to give advice and I've definitely learnt a lot from watching them - I'm waiting in the wings for them to retire, so that I can jump in!" Actress Linda Robson and darts legend Eric Bristow are among those entering the jungle this year. Who else would you like to see? "I think Paul Gascoigne would be good in there. Linda and my mum have been friends since they were teenagers, and she's gone off the radar recently... Grace Jones would be amazing - I'd lay money on her attacking someone in there, like she famously slapped chat show host Russell Harty!" You were in camp with one of the show's most controversial campmates, David Van Day. What was he really like? "David was fantastic, he wound everyone up. I thought the others would learn to put up with him. but they couldn't, they just wanted to kill him. People like that are brilliant in camp; they create a division. He and David Gest are my all-time favourite campmates who've never won." Do you think it's because you got stuck into the Bushtucker trials and bonded with everyone that you ended up winning? "Before I went into the jungle, my mum said: 'Just have an adventure and enjoy it'. And that's what anyone going in this year should remember; it's only three weeks, so don't get wrapped up in arguments, just take it for what it is: an amazing experience." I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! starts Sunday at 9pm on ITV1.
