Black Christmas (1974) | The cult yuletide horror gets a timely 2K release on Blu-ray

Black Christmas

In 1974, director Bob Clark ushered in the slasher genre with Black Christmas. Now, over four decades later, 101 Films presents the UK Blu-ray debut of the chilling cult classic, featuring a stunning 2k presentation.

Sorority house Pi Kappa Sigma is preparing for Christmas but little do they know, ’tis the season for murder. First, the obscene phone calls begin and a girl goes missing… then the bodies begin to pile up. Can the girls survive the holidays, and is the killer lurking closer to home than they think?

Black Christmas

John Saxon (A Nightmare on Elm Street) and Keir Dullea (2001: A Space Odyssey) are the main men in the nearly all-female cast, that includes a pre-Superman Margot Kidder. This key 1970s chiller from future Porky’s director Clark cranks up the tension and delivers plenty of scares, and laid down the ground rules for every slasher in its wake – including Halloween (which it predates by three years). Watching it now, there’s some great fun to be had trying to predict the next shock, victim and twist. Definitely not one to watch alone.
