Neighbours star Jackie Woodburne has opened up about her character Susan's battle with Finn Kelly.

New teacher Finn has a romantic history with Susan's niece Elly, and initially he presents as the perfect teacher, so he ticks all Susan's boxes to begin with.

But Elly is keen to persuade her aunt that Finn is not all he seems - he got her fired and shared personal images of her with the whole school.

Jackie said: "Susan is not convinced, she thinks he is the real deal. But gradually cracks start to appear - she becomes slightly suspicious and then when it seems he's trying to undermine Susan and perhaps has his eye on her job she starts to get a bit more watchful and wary."

The Susan and Finn storyline develops further when Susan falls ill - but is Finn to blame?

Jackie said: "It's a meaty storyline. It's teased out quite well for about 10 weeks. Also his reach goes beyond Susan and Ellie. Xanthe - the young student - he is almost kind of grooming and manipulating to help him in his quest.

"He tells her that he has a life-threatening condition and that he doesn't want anyone to know, so immediately her desire to rescue him comes to the fore."

The storyline reaches its climax when Susan goes to hospital and doctors find she has great quantities of sedatives in her system.

Jackie said: "The stakes get very high."
