MasterChef judge John Torode and partner, actress Lisa Faulkner, are open to the idea of hosting their own chat show

MasterChef judge John Torode and his partner Lisa Faulkner have said they're open to taking on a daytime TV show together in the style of Richard and Judy.

The couple are preparing to present their first radio show together as they cover Mel Giedroyc’s Saturday afternoon show on Magic for two weeks.

Talking to Richard Allinson on Magic, the pair were asked about hosting a TV programme together, prompting John to reply: “You never say never, do you?”

The duo also told the host they show their affection for each other with flowers.

John, 51, said: “I think that romance is important, I really do. I think it is really important and I think that there is something about a bunch of flowers.”

Lisa, 44, an actress who competed on Celebrity MasterChef, added: “So I buy him flowers, too. I don’t think it has to always be the boy buying the girl flowers. And he always loves it when I get him some eucalyptus.”

John, who hosts MasterChef with newly-wed Gregg Wallace, 51, also admitted how starstruck he was when Spandau Ballet star Tony Hadley competed on the show.

The chef admitted he was a super-fan when he lived in Australia and said: “The person who really got me was Tony Hadley. I was a boy who used to drive a Toyota car in Australia and his voice used to boom through the back speakers on the back dashboard, and I would know the words and sing out loud.

“One day he turns up in the MasterChef studio and it was like, ‘Wow, that is unbelievable’.”

John and Lisa host a two-part special on Magic from 1-3pm on August 20 and 27.
