What's On TV caught up with Andrew Buchan who told us he thought the buzz had been just as great surrounding the second series of ITV Broadchurch which finished in February.

Andrew said: “I think so! It’s like that daunting second album, but yes it seems to have maintained its following, which is lovely. People keep asking me if there’s going to be a third series, but who knows what lies ahead.”

ITV has confirmed a third series of Broadchurch is being made.

Speaking at the 41st Broadcasting Press Guild Television and Radio Awards, Andrew goes on to say locals in Dorset are very respectful when they’re filiming Broadchurch. “Sometimes we’ll go in somewhere and there’s silence, or Jodie (Whittaker) and I can go to buy an ice cream and everyone in the shop it seems will have recognised us. Everyone tries to get the secrets and eek things out of you!”

Andrew also talks about his historical dramas such as Garrow’s Law and The Great Fire Of London, and reveals the challenges of playing Ephra in BBC2’s The Honourable Woman last year, which won best drama series at the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards.

He’s desperate not to lose touch with his American co-star Maggie Gyllenhaal. "I have her British phone number, but she doesn’t use that any more, so I’m trying to get her email so I can say ‘Hi, it’s Andy, how are you getting on?’ I don’t want to be thought of as rude and not contact her ever again!”

TV Content Director on TV Times, What's On TV and TV & Satellite Week

I'm a huge fan of television so I really have found the perfect job, as I've been writing about TV shows, films and interviewing major television, film and sports stars for over 25 years. I'm currently TV Content Director on What's On TV, TV Times, TV and Satellite Week magazines plus Whattowatch.com. I previously worked on Woman and Woman's Own in the 1990s. Outside of work I swim every morning, support Charlton Athletic football club and get nostalgic about TV shows Cagney & Lacey, I Claudius, Dallas and Tenko. I'm totally on top of everything good coming up too.
