Aardman Studios' cracking comedy Arthur Christmas has pulled the Best Animated Film award out of Santa's sack at this year’s Richard Attenborough Film Awards – the awards given to the top films and stars of the year as chosen by UK film critics and cinemagoers.

Among the other big winners at today's ceremony in central London were:

Film Of The Year - The Artist Filmmaker Of The Year - Michel Hazanavicius Best Actor - Michael Fassbender, Shame Best Actress - Meryl Streep - The Iron Lady Best Screenwriter - Bridget O'Connor & Peter Straughan, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy Rising Star - Tom Hiddleston, War Horse, Thor, Midnight in Paris

Thanks to everyone who took part by voting in the Animation category and commenting on the nominees. As promised, two of you win a copy of one of the nominated animated films. And the DVDs go to...

Ahktar Niamut, who said:My definite choice will be Rango which is quite refreshing and offbeat compared to recent animated films. Rango is a brillant hommage to the old western type of films that are so rare and there is enough combination of action and humour and with the added bonus of Johnny Depp as voice actor.

and Baldwin Ho:Puss in Boots, it was funny, it was sassy. There was something for the adults as well as the kids. Normally spinoffs are inferior to the originals, but I would say this stands up very well and Shrek wasn’t missed at all. At times it was bellyachingly funny, other times it was oh sooo romantic (yes I went with my girlfriend!)

As part of our animation drive, we also ran a competition to win some Simpsons goodies. The winner in that compeititon is Bernie, whose favourite Simpsons character is Lisa because "she is so like my daughter!! strong, bright and a little misunderstood at times - but with a heart of gold and a determination to make things better".

And that's not all peeps! Courtesy of Sony Pictures Releasing and the Film Distributors Association, we've now got 10 Arthur Christmas goodie bags to give away. To stand a chance of winning follow us on Twitter @MovieTalkBlog and retweet one of our Arthur Christmas tweets.

• Please note that any prizes unclaimed within one month of notification will be withdrawn and a new winner will be selected at random.
