Ash Morgan wows as The Voice kicks off

Welsh singer Ash Morgan has emerged as an early front-runner to win The Voice after series two kicked off on Saturday night.

Ash a youth art co-ordinator from the Welsh Valleys, was the first to take to the stage as the popular blind' auditions returned to the series, wowing the judges with his rendition of the INXS/Paloma Faith hit Never Tear Us Apart.

And despite his nerves, he impressed Jessie J so much that she actually took to the stage while he was singing in a bid to secure him for her team.

"I genuinely believe that I could really coach you well and I am very real, so I wanted to watch you and be front row and that was mind blowing," she told him afterwards. "Thank you for being such an incredible artist."

Ash - who went on to choose a spot in Jessie's team - was one of seven hopefuls who found themselves chosen by the coaches on Saturday's show.

Others who made it through included blind Irish singer Andrea Begley, whose rendition of Sarah McLachlan's Angel left Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue spellbound.

Andrea - who has been visually impaired since suffering glaucoma as a child - found herself being fought over by both judges following her performance, with Danny saying: "I can assure you that not only we turned around but the whole of the UK turned around."

Shayne Ward's cousin Mike, meanwhile, surprised the panel by coming across as a potential rapper, only to audition with a country song - ultimately becoming Tom's first act of the series.

"You are the first country singer we have seen," Tom told him. "I have had experience in this area of music, I feel like I am the one for you."

And Matt Henry - who rounded off the show - not only stunned the judges with his astonishing resemblance to will.i.am, but also with his vocal skills.

"You look more like my brother than my brother!" will told him, adding that his singing was "magnificent".

In total seven acts made it through to the battle round stages, with auditions set to continue next Saturday night.
