Bake Off's Paul and Mary like 'mother and son'

The Great British Bake Off twosome Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry have admitted they have a 'mother and son' type relationship.

Speaking to the Mirror ahead of the start of the fourth series on August 20, Paul said that their partnership has grown since the BBC Two show first began in 2010.

"I know what Mary's thinking - we have a natural telepathy," he said. "Mary is like my mum."

Meanwhile his fellow judge added: "To be a pair is wonderful, we understand each other. We go for suppers together and have cooked for each other at our homes."

The pair also hinted at what viewers can expect from the forthcoming series of the show.

"The standard is unbelievable," Paul admitted. "I was shocked, they're more professional than ever."

"People have been watching the show, so they come with more confidence," Mary explained, "but we've been careful to include things that people can do at home.

"We get lots of emails from children, learning from the master classes and being tempted to bake themselves," she added.
