June Brown has been spotted filming Dot Branning's emotional return to EastEnders. The actress - who has played the Walford stalwart since 1985 - was shooting a reunion scene with her granddaughter Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald), the Sun reported. The 85-year-old left the show in the spring as she took a sabbatical to write her memoir, as well as working on a BBC One documentary Respect Your Elders. Dot, who was last seen heading off to visit family after struggling to keep her launderette open, was snapped embracing her grandchild in scenes set to air over the Christmas period. June first joined the show the year it launched, when she was known as Dot Cotton, changing her name in 2002 when she married Jim Branning. She took a four-year break from Albert Square in the 1990s.
