The X Factor judge Cheryl Cole is on track to hit No 1 this week, despite miming on Sunday's show, according to the latest figures. The singer is likely to score one of the highest first week sales of the year with new single Promise This, according to midweek positions. At the weekend Cole performed the track, but lip-synced, even though she had been criticised for doing so a year earlier. Promise This would be her second No 1 solo single, following last year's debut Fight For This Love. The track is tipped to outsell the 125,000 first week sales of Katy Perry Ft Snoop Dogg's California Gurls in June of this year. But it has a lot of ground to make up to catch the largest one week sale of 2010, the Helping Haiti charity single which shifted 450,000 copies. The X Factor has proved to be a huge promotional tool for artists hoping to push new releases. Take That are expected to guest on the show next month ahead of the release of their new album Progress. It's thought the appearance will tie in with a screening of new documentary Take That: Look Back, Don't Stare, which is to be shown just ahead of the album's November 15 release. Last year's X Factor winner Joe McElderry looks likely to be denied the No 1 slot for his debut album Wide Awake, according to figures from the Official Charts Company. Rock quartet Kings Of Leon are expected to retain their position of chart domination with the Come Around Sundown album. Joe saw his first single from the album, Ambitions, enter the charts at number six then plummet to number 21.
