Claudia Winkleman reveals all about hosting this year’s Let’s Dance for Sports Relief. Last year was a resounding success, are you looking forward to presenting Let’s Dance For Sport Relief again? “I absolutely can’t wait, I loved doing last year and had no idea what to expect. I would do anything for Comic Relief, so I turned up and asked what kind of show is it? And they took me into a room where Robert Webb was dancing to Flashdance (What A Feeling) and I thought, this will be the greatest show I have ever worked on in my life.” Last year’s winner, Robert Webb set the bar pretty high - do you think anyone can compete? “I think Robert Webb was magnificent but I also loved the Blue Peter gang doing Elvis’ Jailhouse Rock, I liked all of it.” Who should we be looking out for this year? “I can’t wait to see Rufus Hound. I know that he will just throw himself into and be absolutely brilliant and former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton randomly, I just can’t wait.” Why do celebrities take part? “I think they want to be part of it because Sports Relief is an extraordinary charity. Why else would they do it? You get a call from Richard Curtis saying, ‘Do you fancy recreating Beyonce’s Single Ladies?’ And you go, 'Ok!'" Is it nice to be reunited with fellow presenter Steve Jones? “Yes, he is lovely and brings me chocolate and we had fish and chips after every show last year. We had a lovely time, he is a very sweet boy, he’s like my brother.” This year the contestants could be dancing to anything from Beyonce to Grease or Michael Jackson. If you had to dance, what would be yours? “Any dance that involved me lying down! I’m not good on movement, if it could be some sort of sleeping dance…”
