Attention Corrie fans!
Coronation Stree (opens in new tab)t’s Emily Bishop will be returning to your screens in the autumn.
The legendary character, who is the longest-standing female character in the popular TV soap having first appeared back in 1961, will be heading back to the cobbles this October for a very special occasion.
The former soap regular, played by Eileen Derbyshire, left back in 2016 after 55 years on the street, but will be making a comeback to take part in the celebrations for Ken Barlow’s 80th birthday.
ITV bosses took to the TV show’s social media account to reveal the exciting news.
Sharing the announcement with their 1.8 million followers, bosses took to the soap’s Twitter account to reveal that they were filming the episodes earlier this week.
Sharing two adorable snaps on their post, one of the characters gathered to celebrate Ken’s birthday and another showing actress Eileen in her Emily Bishop getup, ITV wrote: ‘This week we're filming Ken's 80th Birthday party and look who surprises him with a special video message - it's Emily!

Long-time fans of the daily soap couldn’t contain their excitement at the news, with the post quickly raking up 1.5 likes, 136 retweets and nearly 100 responses.
‘Aww,’ wrote one loyal fan. ‘What a treat, for Ken and for the viewers. Good to see Emily back, if only briefly. Its been TOO long. #Corrie’.

Fans also responded to the revelation that Norris Cole would be in the episode.
‘She looks marvellous!’ wrote on viewer. ‘It'll be lovely to see her back on our screens. Norris, too! Hopefully she can pop back occasionally’.
‘Wish Emily & Norris were still on the Street!’ added another. ‘Miss them so much. I hate getting older and missing all my favourites on Corrie!’
We can’t wait to get a glimpse of the pair come October!
