Coronation Street fans have been left heartbroken as it is confirmed that a Rana Habeeb is set to leave the cobbles in the coming months...
Coronation Street fans have been left upset as it is confirmed by the soap that actress Bhavna Limbachia will be leaving her role as Rana Habeeb later this year.
It was revealed yesterday that the actress would be leaving Coronation Street, and according to The Sun the character of Rana will be dramatically killed off in a huge storyline.
A source reportedly told The Sun that while the details of Rana's death are being kept secret, there were talks that she would be killed off on her wedding day to fiancee Kate Connor.
The ITV insider apparently told Sun Online: "Bhavna wanted Rana to be killed off as she didn't like the idea of her and Kate just splitting up as it would upset fans of the show.
"The scenes will be heartbreaking to watch. Rana will die in Kate's arms."
If these claims turn out to be correct, this is a storyline that is set to devastated fans of Kate and Rana, a favourite couple on the cobbles that viewers have affectionately dubbed 'Kana'.
Fans took to social media yesterday to share their upset at the news...
The response to her departure was so huge, that Bhavna even recorded a message to fans revealing her reasons behind her decision to leave Coronation Street.
A spokesperson for the ITV soap confirmed: "Bhavna Limbachia will be leaving Coronation Street later this year, she made the decision last year and spoke to producer Iain MacLeod when he joined the show about her plans to leave.
"She's been fully involved in the discussions about Rana's leaving story, the details of which we are hoping to keep under wraps for the viewers. Bhavana is a talented actress and we wish her every success for the future."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
