Faye Brookes, who plays Kate Connor in Coronation Street, has opened up about how “proud” she is of her character’s “epic” storyline.

Kate is engaged to Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) in the programme, and the couple are going from strength to strength.

"It's been a true love story, and I'm so proud of all the things we've accomplished together," Faye told The Sun.

"And I also know that with the storyline we've been given, there's nobody I could have done it with apart from Bhavna.

"It's been all or nothing on every level, from the moment we met on screen to the moment she's gone. Just an epic, epic love story."

While the couple are doing well now, that’s not to say that it hasn’t been a rocky road, and they've faced their fair share of challenges along the way.

Most recently, the couple had to overcome Kate’s attempt to sleep with Adam Barlow, motivated by the prospect of having a biological child. The couple are now back on track, but could things be ruined by newcomer Lolly?

Faye hinted that this could be the case.

She explained: "Lolly is really dangerous. She is very clever and very manipulative and Kate and Rana don’t know the half of what she is capable of.

“They should be really worried – and they make a shocking discovery that could ruin the wedding after they have sent her packing."

Bhavna recently announced that she will be leaving the soap to pursue new projects, while Faye will remain part of the cast. With this in mind, the likelihood of a happy ending for the pair is sadly looking slim…

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
