Corrie’s Shayne Ward is dating Hollyoaks star Sophie Austin

Aidan Connor’s love life in Coronation Street has just started hotting up – and so has Shayne Ward’s, who plays Aidan. He’s started dating Hollyoaks’ Sophie Austin.

Sophie announced her split from husband Graeme Rooney earlier in March.

Today's Mirror reports she's now dating Shayne.

A spokesman for Shayne confirmed: “Following the reported split between Sophie and her partner, I can confirm the friendship between Shayne and Sophie has progressed.

“Although it’s too early to comment on any plans.”

Sophie, 31, married Graeme last July after they had been together six years.

Last week she said: “Very sadly, my husband and I separated a little while ago.

"The breakdown of any long-term relationship is always difficult and this is no exception.

"We’ve been best friends for so many years and I will always care for him dearly.”

Shayne, also 31, and Sophie have recently quietly begun attending events together, including a charity ball in Manchester.

Sophie has starred as Lindsey Roscoe in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks since 2013.

She was involved in a big storyline last year when Lindsey was revealed to be the so-called “Gloved-Hand Killer” who murdered several characters.

But Sophie has since announced she’s quitting the soap, with bosses planning an explosive exit for her character.
