Coronation Street has been named the TV show Brits would choose to spend their last minutes on earth watching. More than one in 10 respondents picked the ITV1 soap in the survey to mark the ancient Mayan prediction that the world will come to an end. Corrie got 11 per cent of the vote, beating BBC One rival EastEnders which was named by seven per cent of the 2,000 people surveyed. Doctor Who and Downton Abbey came joint second with 9 per cent each in the poll by catch-up TV service YouView, followed by US show Homeland with 8 per cent. Reality shows The Only Way Is Essex and Made In Chelsea failed to make it into the top 10 for apocalyptic viewing. Together they were the preferred pick for three per cent of the nation.
