Corrie’s Lisa George ‘in talks’ to appear on the next series of Dancing On Ice

Lisa plays Beth Tinker in the ITV soap

Dancing On Ice are reportedly in talks with Coronation Street star Lisa George to appear in the next series of the show.

The actress, who plays Beth Tinker in the ITV soap, is said to be favourite to fly the flag for Corrie in the 2020 series of the show.

If she does, she will follow in the footsteps of her co-stars Jane Danson, Brooke Vincent and Anthony Cotton.

In January, Jane represented Weatherfield, and in 2018 Antony and Brooke both competed with Brooke becoming runner up to winner Wes Nelson.

“Lisa's really popular with soap fans so Dancing On Ice bosses think she'll be a great signing,” an insider told The Sun.

"All of her cobbles castmates will be backing her on the show."

Lisa’s potential signing comes after it was reported that magician Ben Hanlin has stepped in to replace Kelvin Fletcher on the ice-skating show.

Kelvin was reportedly approached by ITV bosses to appear on Dancing on Ice – which returns in January – after impressing them with videos of him skating.

But, with Jamie Laing forced to pull out of Strictly Come Dancing due to an injury, Kelvin was announced as his replacement.

“Ben is absolutely thrilled because this is his biggest break in TV and marks a huge showbiz comeback for him,” an insider told the paper.

“He fronted three series of ITV2’s Tricked but he hasn’t been on telly for a while now. To say he’s excited is an understatement. He can’t wait to bring some magic to the show.”

Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield are set to front the show once more and other names rumoured to be joining the line-up include Steps star Ian ‘H’ Watkins and Love Island’s Maura Higgins.

Maura reportedly stole the spot from Love Island winner Amber Gill after impressing bosses with her “sense of humour and personality”.
