Strictly Come Dancing judge Darcey Bussell has given a very strong hint about who she thinks will win this series – and it's not Danny Mac

At such an early stage in Strictly Come Dancing, it’s anybody’s guess as to who might go on to win the glitterball trophy.

But judge Darcey Bussell has shared her views on who she thinks is capable of winning this series… and who probably won’t.

The former ballerina – who has been part of the judging line-up since 2012 – spilled the beans on The Jonathan Ross Show.

She was full of praise for Judge Rinder, saying the TV barrister is 'definitely going to go [far]'.

She added: “He’s obviously a perfectionist because he gets really intense, but he’s very funny as well with it, he’s an entertainer as you can see.

“He has got very good facial expressions. It’s quite good because it distracts you from the technique so maybe he’s using it as a skill… He is absolutely gorgeous.”

Asked by Jonathan if Judge Rinder will go all the way, Darcey replied: “I hope so, I really hope so.”

But she was perhaps less enthused about former shadow chancellor – and the competition’s underdog – Ed Balls.

Speaking about who may not go too far in this year’s series, she said: “Well, Ed Balls. He had a lot of timing in his Charleston though.”

Darcey also confessed what she's not fond of when it comes to head judge Len Goodman, who is leaving the show after this series.

“He gets a bit grumpy,” she said. “I think you’re right, it’s his age and a bit bossy, but he is head judge. But what I admire the most is obviously his skill, he was judging way before this show even started.

“He was a great [dancer] and he always tells me he was really good at the lifts… He does get the best room in Blackpool.”

She had further for Len: “He is the head judge so all his knowledge on his ballroom and Latin skills is fabulous. This is his last series, I still don’t believe he’s going to leave but yes he has announced it. But maybe we could have Judge Rinder if he wins maybe.

“If you’re going to be head judge, you’ve got to be the expert.”

The Jonathan Ross Show screens on Saturday at 10pm on ITV.
