Joanne Froggatt, who played Anna Bates in ITV’s award-winning period drama Downton Abbey, has admitted she was “speechless” when she met Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs director Quentin Tarantino last week.
The actress, who played Lady Mary Crawley's maid in the drama, which aired its final episode at Christmas, was speaking at a Bafta Los Angeles annual tea party ahead of the awards show: "We shared a lift with Quentin Tarantino. I got out and I was like 'that's OK, my week is made because I shared a lift with Quentin Tarantino.
"I didn't pluck up the courage to speak to him or say hello but I will if I see him again. Reservoir Dogs is one of my favourite films of all time. So that's why I was a bit like - oh my goodness, that's one of my favourite ever directors."
The 35-year-old, who is nominated for a Bafta for her role as Anna, added that she dreams one day of landing a film role with Tarantino. He was recently immortalised with a 'Hand and Footprint' ceremony at the famous TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.
In the meantime, Joanne, who has already won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Anna and has also appeared in hit TV series Coronation Street, Bad Girls and The Royle Family, remains hopeful that there might be a film version of Downton Abbey.
"It is still on the cards but we don't know anything. Certainly everyone is feeling very positive about it but there is no script and no talk of dates yet.
"It depends if they can get everyone together again at the same time, it will be a logistical nightmare but worth it if they can pull it all together."
Downton is nominated for best TV drama at the ceremony in February.
