Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford join forces with Esther Rantzen for new consumer show
Presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will be joined by legendary consumer champion Esther Rantzen when their investigative series returns in 2019.
Presenting duo Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford's consumer show, Do The Right Thing is returning to Channel 5 early next year. But this time they'll be joined by consumer show legend, Esther Rantzen.
The live weekly prime-time show will see Eamonn, Ruth and Esther spearheading national campaigns to change hearts, minds and lives. Reporter Michael Underwood will return plus there'll be a host of roving celebrity reporters out and about.
"The campaigns that we highlighted last series have had far-reaching impacts that we’re very proud of," said Eamonn and Ruth. "Thanks to the bravery of a bereaved mother talking about the risk of suffocation from nappy sacks, five manufacturers have agreed to implement a warning text on their packaging.
"We also have a lot of fun on the show and one of the loveliest things is being able to surprise people. We rarely hear about the good work that so many are quietly doing in their communities – we love to champion and surprise those amazing unsung heroes."
Esther Rantzen, who presented BBC One's investigative and consumer series That's Life! for 21 years commented: "I’m thrilled to be working with Ruth and Eamonn - two of the best presenters on television today. I can't wait to tell the stories that really matter to the Channel 5 viewers, tackling social injustices and exposing wrongdoing and sometimes having a laugh on the way."
The show will also be on the road each week as the presenters celebrate the unsung heroes, stand up for the man or woman in the street and give a much needed voice to those whose voices feel they are never heard.

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!
Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.
Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)
And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
